Way back in September last year I was asked by Papercraft Inspirations if I would like to contribute to a Fancy Folds Masterclass feature they were planning to run in their magazine this month. Of course I said that I would love to do it.

I designed two cards for them, which I submitted to them in October. It has been a long wait waiting for the magazine to be published! :o)

My project consists of a little Treat Holder and a matching card.

Another card created using the You Are Loved stamp set from the new Spring Mini catalogue :o) This set is so versatile. It can easily be used for many occasions - Valentine, Wedding, Anniversary, Sympathy, Get Well or Birthday.

The colour combination here is Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, Regal Rose and Whisper White.

I inked the lovely floral stamp using the Stampin' Marker pens and stamped this over the bottom half of the image panel. I also stamped it again onto a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock and cut this out for the top half.

The ribbon is the Pear Pizzazz Stitched Poly Ribbon. I will miss this one when it goes in October. It's beautifully soft and makes lovely knots and bows.

The main image panel sits on a Blushing Bride Top Note. The Stripes Embossing Folder was used on the upper half of the image panel. Adhesive Pearls finish it off :o)

More - You Are Loved ......

This card uses the same stamp set as the previous one ..... but for a completely different look.

The colour combination this time is Real Red, Bashful Blue and Whisper White.

The background has been stamped in Versamark using the fabulous Parlor Prints stamp. I then heat embossed this using White Embossing Powder.

The ribbon used is the White Organza and a little Real Red 1/8" Taffeta. I didn't have the bow there originally and the ribbon just disappeared into the card. It was too late to change the colour - I should probably have used the Real Red or Bashful Blue Satin - but I wasn't going to start again! :o) The little red bow just lifts it enough so your eye is drawn in and you see the lovely ruffling.

The glittery red heart is made from another of our new Spring Mini products - Red Glimmer Paper. I LOVE this paper. The glitter does not shed or rub off! I used the Full Heart punch to punch out the perfect heart.

I finished the card by adding a couple adhesive backed Pearls on to the sentiment mat.

You Are Loved .....

This card uses one of the new stamp sets from the Spring Mini catalogue - You Are Loved. It's a really beautiful set and is, of course perfect for Valentines :o) The individual stamps however, are perfect for many occasions.

The colour combination I've used here is Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Real Red.

The heart is punched out from the little square mat using the Full Heart Punch. I then raised this up on dimensionals and backed it with a small piece of Real Red DSP from the Brights paper stack.

I've finished it off with a few Pearls, one of our Antique Brads and some of the gorgeous Chantilly Crochet Trim.

Passionettes - Spring Mini - Blog Hop

Welcome to the Passionettes - Spring Mini - Blog Hop!

There are 9 of the Passionettes Team posting new projects on their blogs today, all highlighting new products coming soon with Stampin' Up's fabulous new Spring Mini Catalogue. The Spring Mini starts from January 4th and will run through 'til the end of April.

I decided to use the new Blossom Party Originals Die for my projects. This die will be exclusive to Stampin' Up! It contains a mixture of different types of flowers - the perfect size for all manner of cards, scrapbook pages and 3D projects. The blossoms are also perfect for stacking on top of each other - making for lots of different possible variations in flowers :o)

All supplies Stampin'Up! unless otherwise stated

The colour combination used for all these projects is:

Real Red, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.

INK: Crumb Cake, Real Red, Whisper White Craft

STAMPS: Everything Eleanor, Clearly For You

TOOLS: Big Shot, Blossom Party Die, Mini Milk Carton Die, 3/4" Circle Punch, Sponge Dauber, Crop-a-Dile

ACCESSORIES: 1/8" Very Vanilla and Real Red Taffeta Ribbon, Crystal Effects

DIRECTIONS:
The base of the octagon box is created using the Mini Milk Carton die. I cut two, trimmed off the top and joined them together. I made the lid by hand, making it slightly bigger than the Milk Carton base.

All the flower layers have been sponged on the edges using a sponge dauber and Crumb Cake ink.

The buttons are created using circles of cardstock. I stamped the top layer using the small background stamp from Clearly For You stamp set using White Craft ink. The holes were punched out using the Crop-a-Dile. I then covered the top with Crystal Effects and when dry, threaded the Vanilla taffeta ribbon through and tied into a knot.

The above card was created as a match for the box. The only difference is that in addition, I have used the Tiny Tags and Pennant Parade stamp sets for the little sentiment tags. These were punched out using the Jewellery Tag punch.

Another quick and easy card to make using the Blossom Party die for the flowers - different ones this time. The sentiment is from the Curly Cute stamp set.

Finally, a couple of Thank You cards. Each has a different flower as the focal point - created using the Blossom Party die. The sentiment is again from the Curly Cute stamp set.

The previous step in this Blog Hop was the wonderfully talented Gen.

The next stop on this little Hop is the fabulous Val.

Aviary - More Fabric and Still No Sewing :o)

Another card using the new Candy Cane Christmas fabric.

As with the previous card you build your 'flower' on a cardstock circle covered in Sticky Strip.

Cut 4 x 2 1/2" Circles using the Big Shot and the Circles #2 Die. Fold each of the circles into quarters, securing them with a glue dot to ensure they hold their shape and then press them on to the sticky circle - simple :o)

Again, the flower was topped off with a punch out from the Boho Blossoms punch and a Rhinestone Brad.

The stamp set used is Aviary. The colour combo is Real Red, Baja Breeze and Whisper White.

Both the Perfect Polka Dots and the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folders have been used on the background layers.

Fabric Flower - No Sewing :o)

Another card using the Candy Cane Christmas fabric.

To make the flower head ...

Cut a long strip of the fabric and fold it in half longways. Punch out a 1 1/4" Circle and cover it in Sticky Strip. Secure one end of the fabric on the reverse of the Circle with a little more sticky strip - then twist the fabric strip, securing it on the top of the Circle by pressing it into the glue. Continue twisting and sticking, working in a spiral towards the centre of the circle. Cut off any excess when you can fit no more fabric on to the circle.

I topped the fabric spiral with a Real Red punch out from the Boho Blossom Punch and a Rhinestone Brad.

The stem and leaves come from the Sweetheart stamp set and the flower is the Al La Carte - Flower For You stamp. The background layer has been embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder.

The colour combo used is Real Red, Basic Black, Wild Wasabi and Whisper White.

Fabric Ornament - No Sewing

I ran a Fabric class this month to create these lovely Ornaments and some cards.

The tutorial is available from Ann Hayward.

They are really sweet and very simple to make. The technique is easy to adjust to work with all sizes of polystyrene balls too.

The Fabric I have used here is Candy Cane Christmas - £8.95. You can make at least three 75cm ornaments from one pack of Fabric - more if you use smaller polystyrene balls.

And the absolute best thing about these ornaments ............ NO SEWING! :o)

Kissing Technique

Another card from one of my recent Technique classes. This one uses the 'Kissing' technique.

The top half of the background showcases the technique. I have used the block heart stamp from the I (Heart) Hearts stamps set. I inked this up in Pretty In Pink and then inked the Dot Dot Dot background stamp in Real Red. The heart stamp was then carefully pressed on to the dotty stamp to pick up some of the red dots and this was then stamped on to the cardstock.

The bottom half of the background was stamped using the En Francais background stamp.

I used the Full Heart and the Heart to Heart punches together with the Scalloped Heart of Heart Embosslit die to complete the card.

Octagon Box

This is another of the projects I displayed to showcase Stampin' Up's new Fabrics at the High Wycombe Training day a couple of months ago.

I have used the Mini Milk Carton Die to create the base of the box - cutting two and joining them together to create an Octagon.

The colour combination used is Real Red, Baja Breeze and Whisper White. The top of the card and the lid of the box were both heat embossed with White embossing powder using the little background stamp from the Clearly For You stamp set (page 66).

The ribbon used is the fabulous Real Red 1/8" Taffeta, which gives a lovely finish to the edge of the lid. I used the Tiny Tags stamp set (page 66) to create the little tags on the lid - again these were embossed with White Embossing powder.

The fabric is Candy Cane Christmas (page 105 £8.95) and I used it this time to create the little Pom Pom flowers. The technique was one of the ones I demonstrated at the training. They are great if you hate to sew - as you only need glue dots and sticky strip to create them :o)

18th Birthday

Last week saw the 18th birthday of my eldest son's best friend - George. As they say .... Time Flies! I've known George and his lovely sister Ruth since they were in pre-school :o)

The above card is the one I made for him. It uses the Faux Metal technique which I will be teaching my ladies in next month's Technique class.

The sentiment is from one of the Hostess stamp sets - Happiest Birthday Wishes. I have heat embossed the image using Silver Embossing Powder. The numbers are from a retired set - Schoolbook Serif Numbers and these have also been embossed in Silver.

November - Project Class - Simply Soft

Simply Soft - Thank You

Each month I make a little 'Thank You' card for my Monthly Stampers Club ladies - this is this month's card.

I have used Confetti White cardstock to create the base and the image layer (page 95 £8.25 for 40 A4 sheets).

The image is from the lovely Simply Soft Hostess Stamp set (page 10) - you can earn this set for free if you hold a party of join one of my Monthly Stampers clubs!

The colours used are Confetti White and Basic Black. The image is coloured using Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade.

The sentiment comes from the Thank You Kindly stamp set (page 86 £13.95).

Fabric - YoYo Flowers

This is another of my projects from the recent Stampin' Up! Training Event held at High Wycombe.

It uses the Bundle of Love stamp set again (page 42 - Wood Mount £26.95 / Clear Mount £21.95).

This time I have stamped the image on to Watercolour Paper (page 95 £4.50) and then coloured it using the ink pads and my Aqua Painter (page 113 £12.25). I stamped the pram body a second time and cut it out before raising it on Dimensionals (page 114 £3.25) and placing it over the flat image.

The Heart is from the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit (page 125 £10.50) and the ribbon is the gorgeous Baja Breeze Seam Binding (page 106 £6.25). I love this ribbon and you can create beautiful ruffled tails with it very easily. Fray the ends just slightly to expose the vertical threads. Grab a single thread from the middle and pull gently. This will gather up the fabric. Secure on the reverse with a glue dot and trim the end if you wish :o)

The flowers are created using the Candy Cane Christmas Fabric (page 105 £8.95). They are called YoYo flowers - or Suffolk Puffs and are really simple to make - even though they need a little sewing :o)

Start with a circular piece of fabric - mine were cut using the Circles #2 Die (page 122 £14.50) but the circles don't have to be perfect, you can just hand cut some in the size you want. Bear in mind though that the resulting flower will be about half the size of the original circle you use.

Sew a running stitch all around the outside of the circle, securing the end tightly. When you reach the starting point again, just pull the thread gently and this will gather up the fabric to create your flower. Secure the end with the needle and you're done :o) I finished each of mine with a little punch out from either the Boho Blossom punch or the little Itty Bitty Flower punch and topped them with a Basic Pearl.

I used all the little stamps from the set to create the background for this card - just by randomly stamping them all over the cardstock.

Bundle Of Love - Paper Piecing

This was a card we created at one of my recent Technique Classes. It uses the Paper Piecing Technique.

The image was stamped onto Whisper White card stock and then stamped again on to Designer Series Paper. The main body of the pram and the booties were then cut out from the DSP and overlayed onto the original stamped image - Simple ...... but very cute :o)

The stamp set is called Bundle Of Love and is a beautiful set (page 42 - Wood Mount £26.95 / Clear Mount £21.95).

A Christmas Carol

I have used the Cottage Garden stamp set again today to create this card. The stamp I used this time is the little block flower. I inked it in Cherry Cobbler ink and then 'Rock and Rolled' the edges of it on the Early Espresso ink pad before stamping it on to Very Vanilla card stock and cutting it out.

I coated each flower in Crystal Effects before sprinkling on a little of the Champagne Glass Glitter (page 11 £3.25). The flowers were then left to dry before I shaped the petals - just by rolling them over my pricking tool spike.

The centre image is from one of our new Christmas stamp sets - A Christmas Carol (page 22 £18.95 Wood Mount / £14.95 Clear Mount). I have stamped it in Versamark ink (page 113 £5.95) and then Heat Embossed it with our new Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder (page 111 £3.75). I over-stamped this with the Water Droplet stamp from the French Foliage stamp set (page 59) - just to give it a little more of an 'aged' look :o)

The papers are again from the Holly Berry Bouquet Speciality set (page 96 £11.50). You get 12 12"x12" double sided sheets in the pack and four of them are glittered on one side. The card uses both the Dotty and Striped glitter designs.

I sponged all the edges of the card stock and papers with Soft Suede ink.

Cottage Garden

I have used the Cottage Garden stamp set for this card. This can be found in the Idea Book and Catalogue on page 53 - £18.95 Wood Mount / £15..95 Clear Mount.

It's a really sweet set. I stamped the outline flower image using Basic Black ink onto some of the First Edition Speciality DSP (page 96 £11.50). This paper is fantastic value - it's not as thick as our normal DSP, BUT you get 24 sheets in a pack!

I then cut the flowers out before covering them in Crystal Effects (page 114 £5.75). This gives the flowers a beautiful glaze and when dry you can shape the flowers as you wish. Also - before the Crystal Effects is dry, you can add Pearls or Rhinestones to the flowers - and a little Dazzling Diamonds glitter if you wish :o)

The fabulous Michelle Last showed us how to make these little lovelies several months ago at one of Amanda Fowlers's quarterly training events .... and I've only recently got around to trying them out. They are so pretty and really easy to do ...... why don't you give them a try? :o)

The colour combination I've used on this card is Basic Black and Cherry Cobbler. The leaves were cut from Wild Wasabi card stock using the Big Shot machine and the Little Leaves Sizzlit die.

The double bow is made using the glorious new Crochet Trim (Victoria - page 106 - £6.25). I've topped it off with another new product - Antique Brads (page 109 - £5.50). These are two of my most favourite accessories in the whole of the catalogue - both are simply gorgeous! :o)

The DSP I have used here is the Holly Berry Bouquet Speciality papers (page 96 £11.50). Although this is essentially a Christmas paper pack - as you can see, it can be used for other occasions too :o)

October Project Class - Aviary

My October Project class featured the new Aviary Stamp set (page 41) . We made a box and 3 co-ordinating cards.

I used the colour combination of Rose Red, So Saffron, Old Olive and Whisper White.

The box is super cute - it's a bit like creating two boxes in one. The sides of the box fold down to reveal another box inside :o)

Fabric!

A few weeks ago I was asked to do a demonstration using the new fabric now being sold by Stampin' Up! This was for a training event being held by Stampin Up! for a group of lovely Demonstrators down at High Wycombe.

These are all the projects I created to display. They all use some of the fabulous Candy Cane Christmas Fabric (page 105 £8.95). I love the colour combination used for this fabric - Real Red, Blushing Bride, Baja Breeze and Garden Green - it was very easy to create projects using it :o)

For this first project, I created some large flowers with strips of the fabric.

Cut about a 4" strip down the length one of the designs.

Fold in half longways, before ironing it flat (optional).

Sew a running stitch all along the folded edge and cut the opposite edge into a wave pattern - just roughly.

Pull one end of the running stitch thread so the fabric gathers up - stop when it is about half the original length.

Wrap the fabric around a chop stick (or similar) securing as you go with Fabric Glue.

Be warned - it can get a little fiddly and messy with the glue - but the final result is worth it :o)

Scallop Square - Easel Card - Dinoroar

One of my favourite stamp sets in the new Idea Book and Catalogue is the Dinoroar Stamp set (page 47). It's a really sweet set, perfect for children - especially little boys :o)

I have used the new exclusive Scallop Square Bigz Clear Die (115950 page 122) to make an easel card. I haven't made it square though, I made it into a diamond easel card. It's a little bit fiddly, but I like a challenge :o)

The colours used are Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla. I used the ink pads and Aqua Painter (103954 page113) to colour the images. The sentiment is from Oval All (113790 page 71).

The background was brayered. I can't remember which colours I used for definite. I think thye were Bashful Blue and Night of Navy for the sky and Certainly Celery and Wild Wasabi, with a hint of Crumb Cake for the field.

Swaps - Amanda's Training

Last Saturday was Amanda Fowler's quarterly Team Training. Fortunately the lovely Amanda opens this to teams other than her own .... so me and mine get to go :o) I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy the training days. There were 33 like minded ladies there on Saturday. The enjoyment and inspiration you get at this event is amazing :o)

When Stampin' Up! demos get together we always swap. The swaps I took this time are shown above. They all use the new Aviary stamp set (page 41) and each uses one of the new In Color colours. These had to be really quick to make cards this time. I didn't think I'd get to make any, but managed to get these done before I went. You swap your cards with each of the other demos attending and come away with lots of new ideas .... it really is a fabulous idea!

Wheeled Frame

This is one of the cards from my September Technique class. We created a frame using one of the Stampin' Up! standard wheels - Decor 119894 £6.50.

This technique is really quick and easy to do. It looks especially good on Scrapbook pages, but can be done for cards.

You start by drawing a light pencil cross across a square of cardstock. Position a post-it note along the pencil line from the bottom left corner up towards the middle and another from the top left corner down towards the middle.

You then wheel your image up the left side - using a wheel guide to keep it straight. Remove the post-it notes and rotate the cardstock a quarter turn before repeating the process again on the remaining three sides.

This is a 12x12 page I completed of my daughter to showcase some of the new fabric that Stampin' Up! is now selling in the UK. I was asked to create some samples and do a demonstration using the fabric at the recent training event held by Stampin' Up! at High Wycombe. This was one of the samples I did :o)

The fabric is lovely to work with. I really hate to sew, so most of the samples I produced had no sewing in them at all. I'll show you them soon.

The flowers on this page were cut using the Fun Flowers die and the Big Shot. I laid them all onto copy paper and sprayed them in a light laundry starch before crumpling them all up inside the paper. I then un-crumpled the paper and left the flowers to dry.

The buttons were made from circles of cardstock stacked on top of each other and topped off with a circle of matching Designer Series Paper. I punched two holes using my crop-a-dile and covered the DSP with Crystal Effects to give it a shiny finish :o)

The stamp sets used here are Strength & Hope (retired), Tiny Tags and Confetti. The colours are Real Red and Baja Breeze. The ribbon used is the Baja Breeze seam binding and Whisper White Taffeta.

I re-did this page, using current products for a recent competition held by Stampin' Up! for their demos. Everyone who submitted projects to be considered for display at the up and coming European Convention went into a draw - and I won a stamp set!!! Because I Care .....

Today is the birthday of one of my downline ...... Anne.

Happy Birthday Anne ...... I hope you're having a fabulous day!!! :o)

This is the card I made for her. It uses the Level 1 Hostess Stamp set - Because I Care. The flower is my absolute favourite ever .... it's just so beautiful and so easy to use.

I've stamped the flower onto Watercolour Paper (page 87) using Versamark ink (page 103) and heat embossed it with Black Embossing Powder (page 100). I've then used the Sponge Daubers (page 103) to colour the image with Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive ink.

I've sponged both the backgrounds. The smaller one was initially unevenly covered with So Saffron. I then added Soft Suede to the deep corners and edges, finishing with Early Espresso just on the very edges and shallow corners.

The larger background was created in a similar way, but after I covered the Very Vanilla cardstock in So Saffron I went over it with the Texture Jumbo Wheel (page 55) using Versamark ink. I heat embossed this with Clear Embossing powder (page 100) . I then sponged the Soft Suede all over, just giving it a rough coating and polished the ink off the embossing with some kitchen roll, so the So Saffron shows through. Finally, I finished with Early Espresso on the edges and corners.

I love this card .....

Faux Silk - Kimono Kids

This is the last of my cards created in this month's Technique Classes - using the Faux Silk Technique.

There are a couple of ways you can do this technique. For the above card, the image was stamped and coloured on to Whisper White cardstock. A thin layer of Tombow (wet glue) was then spread all over the white cardstock. A piece of tissue paper was then scrunched up and opened out again. This was carefully placed over the image/white cardstock and smoothed down, but not so much as to remove all the wrinkles and creases from it. The excess tissue was then trimmed off.

An alternative way of doing this technique is to stamp/colour the tissue paper itself. This is then scrunched, opened out and finished off as the other was :o)

The image used is from the Kimono Kids stamp set (page 46). The colours used are Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride and Concord Crush. The ribbon is the gorgeous Stitched Poly ribbon in Concord Crush.

Baby Wipe Ink Pad

The Baby Wipe Ink Pad technique is yet another simple one :o) You create your 'ink pad' using a folded up Baby Wipe and add drops of ink from your re-inker bottles. You should make sure that your different colours are right next to each other on the 'ink pad', but you don't want them to overlap too much or you may get some muddy colours resulting.

This card uses the French Foliage stamp set from the current Mini Catalogue (page 15). I've said before how much I love this set and how versatile it is. Hopefully it's one that will be carried forward to our new catalogue in October ..... but if it's on your Wish List don't wait until then to get it as there is no guarantee it will stay :o)

The colours I have used this time are Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait and Concord Crush - three of our current In-Colour collection.

The background has been embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. The sentiment layers were created using the Scallop Oval and Decorative Label punch.

August Project Class

My project class for this month used an assortment of products, stamp sets and techniques, but it focused on the Music Notes standard wheel (page 65). This is a wonderful little wheel for backgrounds.

The set consists of an Hexagon Gift Box, a Pillow Box Gift Box and two cards. The Square Lattice Embossing Folder is used on all the projects (Mini Catalogue Page 10). The bird punch card inspired the whole set and was based on one of Ann Schach's fabulous designs.

The colour scheme used is Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla ... one of my absolute favourites :o)

Faux Mother Of Pearl

Today's card uses another quick and simple technique - Faux Mother Of Pearl. There are a few different ways to do this technique. This is what I did ........

I used Glossy Cardstock (page 87) and White Frost Shimmer Paint (page 103). All you need to do is scrunch up a little Cling Film Wrap and dip it into a tiny bit of the Shimmer Paint. You then just dab it all over your cardstock. I then Brayered River Rock ink all over the top and polished it afterwards with a piece of kitchen roll. The Shimmer Paint acts as a resist for the ink so gives the finished cardstock a beautiful subtle glisten ..... like Mother of Pearl :o)

The stamp used for this card is one of the new A la Carte stamps at the back of the mini catalogue - Wedding Wheels.The sentiment is also from the mini catalogue - the new Level 2 Hostess Set Something To Celebrate.

The background is created by brayering River Rock ink inside the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder before adding the cardstock and running it through the Big Shot.

The colours used are Very Vanilla, River Rock and Basic Black.

Heat and Stick Christmas

This card uses the ever gorgeous Lovely As A Tree stamp set (page 58). Another fabulously versatile set. Perfect for all occasions from Christmas to Mens cards ...... for backgrounds - or for main images :o)

The image has been stamped onto Basic Black cardstock using White Craft ink (page 85). This was then covered over with Heat and Stick powder (page 100) and heated with the heat gun (page 100) until the powder melted. Dazzling Diamonds glitter (page 100) was then added to the melted powder and the whole thing heated very quickly again to set the glitter into the glue - a really lovely technique for everyone who loves a bit of sparkle :o)

The colours used are Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler and Baja Breeze. The sentiment is from the Occasional Greetings stamp set. The background layer was created using the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel (page 22) and Basic Rhinestones (page 99) finish off the card :o)

July Project Class

This was my project class in July. It uses the Nature Walk stamp set from the Mini catalogue (page 24).

One of the many 'perks' we get as Stampin' Up! Demos is to receive a copy of the Impressions magazine every month. This is packed full of information, ideas and inspirational projects. My July class was inspired by one of the cards shown in the magazine a few months back. It used some of the Botanical Gazette DSP as the background layer. I wanted to design a class that used bleach stamping and thought it would fit in perfectly with this - so instead of using the Designer Series Paper, we bleached the backgrounds :o)

Training - Make & Take

My team had our monthly training meeting on Wednesday night and this is the Make and Take card they completed.

It is based on another card by Sandi MacIver - a truly talented designer.

The colours used are Real Red, Old Olive, Very Vanilla and Basic Black.

Lovely As A Tree (page 58) has been used for the background on the tag and this has been stamped in Basic Grey. I stamped 'off' twice before stamping the card so the image would be very light. The trees are highlighted with a glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

All the other stamps come from the Winter Post stamp set (page 27). The papers are from the Brights Paper Stack. I ran the Vanilla background paper through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. This - and the Real Red DSP - were then scrunched up and daubed with Soft Suede ink to give a more vintage look. I also used the Distressing Tool on all the edges.

1/4" Old Olive Grosgrain and a piece from the Hodgepodge Hardware kit finish off the card :o)

Faux Pinwheel

Another technique from my last Technique's class. This one is Faux Pinwheel - another quick and simple one!

I have used Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper (page 89) for the little squares - punched out using the 1 1/4" square punch (page 106). This is a great technique for using up all those little pieces of DSP you collect :o)

I added texture by running the background mat and the bird's wing through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder (mini catalogue).

The main colours used are Baja Breeze, Early Espresso and Pear Pizzazz. The sentiment comes from the Party This Way stamp set (page 31).

Polished Stone Technique

This was one of the new techniques I 'discovered' last month and we did in my last Technique class :o)

It's a really quick and simple technique. You soak a cotton wool ball with rubbing alcohol and then add drops of re-inker to it. I also added a little Platinum Shimmer Paint. You then just daub Glossy cardstock with the Cotton wool :o)

I used Real Red, Regal Rose and Daffodil Delight for this card with just a touch of Platinum Shimmer Paint (page 103 £4.95).

The stamp comes from the Occasional Greetings stamp set (page 21 £30.95). You need to stamp with Stazon ink on the Glossy cardstock and because it's going on top of the Shimmer Paint.

The background stamping uses the fabulous Medallion stamp (page 61 £16.95).

Christmas In July - Projects

My first project uses the gorgeous Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper. The cardstock used is Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive, with a little Very Vanilla. The set includes a beautiful gift box. It's a great size at just under 16cm square and 7.5 cm high. The stamp set used for the Tag and the cards is Contempo Christmas - this is my absolute favourite Christmas set in the current catalogue (page 25). It's so versatile with the tree, the ornament and sentiment stamps :o)

My second project used the Swirly Star stamp that all my ladies received in their welcome packs. It also uses lots of the Platinum Shimmer Paint :o) The colours here are Marina Mist and Whisper White. The cracker box is made out of a sheet of A4 cardstock - no cutting, just lots of scoring :o) The little tags are created using the Swirly Star stamp and one of the sentiment stamps from Tiny Tags (page 66).

I found the tutorial for the last project on Angela McKay's blog here. It's a really sweet gift bag that you can create from one sheet of 12x12 cardstock or DSP.

We used a sheet of the Jolly Holiday DSP when creating this one. The stamp set used is Welcome Christmas (page 27).

Christmas In July!!

I held my Christmas In July Event last Saturday. It was a lovely morning shared with 24 very special ladies :o)

They all worked hard to complete 3 fabulous Christmas projects. It was a morning full of fun, laughter and lots of festive crafting.

Thank you to everyone who came. Thank you for your orders ..... and thank you for your continued support :o) And a big THANK YOU to my wonderful daughter Lauren who looked after everything in the kitchen and the raffle ... I couldn't run these events without her!

The lady with the gorgeous smile is my dear friend Beryl ..... Another huge 'Thank you' goes to her for making the yummy cakes! xxx

This is what I gave all my ladies for coming :o) Everyone had a gift bag with some choccies in it. I made little mini cracker boxes to hold the charm. They had a personalised water bottle and a Stylish Star stamp (mini catalogue £5.95). They all also received a half pack of Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper.

The little charms are made from shrink plastic and stamped in Stazon ink so the colours won't run. I used stamps from the Delightful Decorations and Contempo Christmas stamp sets and added a little bell :o) Not my original idea unfortunately. I was given one very similar at our Stampin' Up! convention last November - from Rose. I've been planning to use the idea since then for my Event this month :o)

Sail Away - Stained Glass

The Sail Away stamp can be found at the back of the mini catalogue (£8.95). It's a lovely little stamp .... and perfect for men's cards :o)

The image is stamped onto Cardstock Vellum (page 87) using Versamark (page 103) and heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder (page 100). I then flipped the Vellum over and coloured the sails on the reverse with my Real Red Stampin' Marker. This technique is called Stained Glass :o) The marker ink takes a while to dry on the Vellum, so let it sit for a while. Don't be tempted to dry it with a heat gun as this will melt the Embossing on the other side again!

Behind the Vellum is a Whisper White mat which I have colour washed with my Aqua Painter using Marina Mist ink for the sky and Pacific Point ink for the sea.

The background paper is from the Brights DSP Patterns Stack (page 91).

The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations (page 72 £21.95) which has been stamped onto a punched Scallop Oval (page 105) and this has been layered on top of a punched Decorative Label (mini catalogue).

The colours used here are Real Red and Pacific Point.

June Project Class - Clearly For You

This was my project class for June. It uses the Clearly For You stamp set (page 22 Mini Catty). The images are all quite small and gorgeous .... especially the little background stamp. The images are perfect to use with the Beveled Window panes too :o)

This project is made up of a Bag-a-Lope gift bag and three co-ordinating cards. The project also features the exclusive Top Note die.

Stamping With Bleach

This card uses both the French Foliage stamp set and the Autumn Days stamp set. The leaves on the background have been stamped using Bleach. This is such a simple technique to do.

You make up a 'stamp pad' using a shallow container and layers of kitchen roll. Then cover the kitchen roll in Bleach. I used the cheapest, thinest bleach available - and it worked perfectly :o) You don't get such a strong smell either with this bleach. You then 'ink' up your stamps as normal using the bleach pad and stamp away. Once the images have dried (which takes just a few seconds) there is no smell - it evaporates away :o)

One thing to remember though, is to thoroughly clean your stamps afterwards so the bleach doesn't dry out the rubber. The Stampin' Mist is perfect for this (page 107).

Ornate Flowers - Herringbone Technique

This is one of the cards from my June Technique class. The technique is called Herringbone and it's quite labour intensive .... but a really great technique to try. I love it as the background to this card.

Scallop Circle Sky

This is one of the cards we made in my Technique class back in May. It uses a punched Scallop Circle as a mask. You daub ink around the edges of the circle to create a 'cloud' effect. It's perfect for a background to the little airplane from the Plane and Simple stamp set (Mini catalogue). The colours used here are Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue

Clearly For You

I have a really sweet and quick card to share with you today :o)

The colours used are Melon Mambo and Regal Rose. I have used the Top Note die and the Beautiful Butterflies Die together with the fabulous paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack (page 91).

I used the little pattern stamp from the Clearly For You stamp set (Mini page 22)- over the Butterfly itself. This I covered with Heat & Stick powder (page 100) which I heated to make it sticky - then I sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds glitter (page 100) and added some Basic Pearls (page 99). Hey Presto .... Gorgeous Butterfly! :o)

June - Make & Takes

These were the cards I made for my Party Make and Takes in June. They use the fabulous French Foliage stamp set from the Mini Catalogue. I didn't fall in love with this one straight away. It wasn't until I had seen some projects using it, that I was hooked :o) The stamps are wonderful for backgrounds, but the little water droplet stamp and the words stamps are absolutely invaluable! I use these all the time at the moment!

The colours used here are More Mustard, Always Artichoke and Not Quite Navy. The sentiment is from the new Level 2 set in the Mini Catalogue called Something To Celebrate.

The colours for this card are More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Pear Pizzazz. The sentiment is from Curly Cute (page 75).

Birthday Owl

This was another of the projects we made at my May Spring Event. I absolutely love my Owl Punch, it's just so versatile - Not just for Owls, but lots of other punch art projects can be created with him :o)

This card showcases two techniques I've recently covered in my Techniques class - Scallop Circle Sky and the Weathered Wood Technique - which I learned at one of Amanda Fowlers quarterly training events.

The papers used here are Play Date and Woodland Walk. The stamp set used is Party This Way (page 31).

This was one of my projects for my May Spring Event. I based the event around some of the new products available in the Mini Catalogue.

The project consisted of a Stepper Box and two co-ordinating cards. The papers used are the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Papers. Two of the Bigz Big Shot dies have been used for this - Fun Flowers and Beautiful Butterflies as well as the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. The project also used the Four Frames stamp set and matching Decorative label punch.

Color Coach - BLOG HOP!

The wonderful Stampin' Up! Demonstrators over on the In Love With Stamping Forum have got together and organised a BLOG HOP for today!

This Hop will highlight different colour combinations from the wonderful Color Coach (page 81 £13.50).

The Color Coach is a fantastic tool ... especially if you are a little colour challenged like myself :o) It is made up of double-sided cards - one for each of the colours in Stampin' Up's colour collections.

These cards suggest different colour combinations for you to try. There are even some blank cards for you to log your own favourite combinations.

The Hop is consists of 25 blogs which have been split into 2 groups. I am the second in Group 2, so you may have come to me from the fabulous EMILY.

I have 2 projects to share with you today :o)

My first one uses the Colour Combination : Rich Razzleberry / Old Olive / Pumpkin Pie

I'm not usually good with Oranges at all and tend to shy away from using them. BUT using the Color Coach gives me the confidence to play more with colour and I know I can trust any of the combinations that it suggests :o)

I used the Level 1 Hostess Stamp Set 'Because I Care' for this project. This is such a beautiful set and the Hydrangea stamp is so easy to use.

I stamped the flower onto Watercolour paper using Stazon ink and then coloured it using the Aqua Painters and ink pads. I cut the image out and shaped it slightly using my Bone Folder. It is layered onto Pumpkin Pie cardstock that I have embossed using the Big Shot and the Square Lattice embossing folder. I used a sponge dauber and Old Olive ink lightly over the embossing. The Designer Series Paper is from the Brights Patterns Stack (page 91 £15.50 for 40 sheets!). I have used the beautiful Razzleberry Satin Ribbon on the card.

My second project uses the Colour Combination : Basic Black / Cherry Cobbler / Baja Breeze

I absolutely LOVE this colour combination! But there is no way I would have come up with it myself without the Color Coach!

This project features the exclusive Top Note Die from Stampin' Up!

The little chunky gift bag is super cute :o) It uses another of the Designer Series Paper Patterns Stacks - Subtles this time. The little Butterfly and the sentiment come from the 'Clearly For You' stamp set which is in our current Mini Catalogue. I have also used two of the small frames from the Hodgepodge Hardware kit (page 99 £25.95). The ribbon is Basic Black 5/8" Grosgrain (page 97).

I used another of Stampin' Up's exclusive dies for the flowers - Fun Flowers (mini catalogue). I embossed the Cherry Cobbler flowers with the Square Lattice embossing folder and coloured the edges of them with a sponge dauber and Cherry Cobbler ink. All the flowers have been shaped using my Bone Folder.

Finally ...... Some Really Good News!!!!! :o)

It's been a really rough week for my family this week. Last Friday my 17 year old son was hit off his motorbike by a car when he was coming home from work. The next 7 hours or so were definitely the worse of my life so far. I won't go into too many details but his femur was snapped. We were at roadside for a very long time - I managed to get there just after the ambulance and he was eventually airlifted to the RUH.

They didn't operate until Sunday and he now has a rod in his thigh. BUT we've now got him home with us again :o) It's been horrendous. He's coping well with the pain, but is very sick all the time - and that's really hard. We've only managed a couple of hours sleep each night so far and we're all feeling the extra stress that's caused.

He's had a check up today and has been given some medication that seems to be helping ..... so fingers crossed things will improve now :o) So that's one bit of my good news :o)

May Project Class - Hopeful Thoughts

This was my project class for May. I love the Hopeful Thoughts stamp set (page 73 £25.95). The sentiments are geared towards sympathy and get well messages, but the images can be used for absolutely anything.

The project consisted of a gift bag and two matching cards. The bag features the Scallop Circle die .... yet again :o) and also some of the lovely butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies Die (Mini page 7 ££18.95). The Butterflies die is one that is exclusive to Stampin' Up!, so you won't find it anywhere else :o)

The papers used are the Greenhouse Gala DSP (page 89 £8.75). Aren't they pretty and summery? The colours in the first set are Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz together with a little Pumpkin Pie. The colours in the second set are Baja Breeze and Pear Pizzazz.

Scallop Circle Die - April Project Class

My April Project class was inspired from this box HERE. I really enjoyed making the original, but needed to simplify it to suit my class requirements :o)

The papers used are - of course - Springtime Vintage :o) I have used these papers more than any other papers EVER :o) The Seam Binding too, is beautiful and co-ordinates beautifully - I have used just a touch of it this time threaded through the buttons.

Gift Box

This cute little gift box uses the Scallop Circle die for decoration only. I can't give you the measurements coz mum's pinched the box for a little pressie for someone! :o)

I used the Circles 2 Die to create the flower on the top. I cut them from Very Vanilla cardstock and then inked the edges with Rose Red before scrunching them up. After unfolding them all, I stacked them and secured them together with a Clear Rhinestone brad.

Scallop Circle Cards

More projects using the Scallop Circle Die!

Creating an easel card is so easy using this Die. Just fold your cardstock in half and when you place it on the Die, position it so that a few of the scallop edges are outside of the fold - so they won't get cut. This forms the base card i.e. you will have 2 scallop circles joined on what was the folded edge. All you need to do then is fold one of the circles in half. The full one will form the base (bottom) of the card and the folded one will form the back and support for your card front (cut another full scallop circle to decorate and position on here. You can see the shape of it in the top pic :o)

Big Shot Swing Card!

I found THIS video on YouTube by Deb Valder showing how to do this technique with the Big Shot. Deb used the smaller Scallop circle die, which we haven't got in the UK at the moment - but the technique is the same for using the larger Die that we do have. My card base was 13.5cm x 13.5cm. You don't want to go much smaller because it will make the 'hinge' sections too narrow and weak :o)

This was the technique I demo'd at Amanda's training day :o)

This final card was a 'happy' mistake. It was originally another Swing card, but I dropped it and tore one of the hinges - still looks good though :o)

Just Believe - March Project Class

More Baby Carriages! :o)

There's still a few more projects to show you from my Inspiration Table at Amanda's training day - all using the Scallop Circle Bigz Die from Stampin' Up! :o)

This little beauty uses the die to form the base card.

I scored and folded a piece of cardstock (sized 24cm x 12cm) at 12cm and placed onto the Scallop Circle die - BUT just bringing the folded edge inside the scallops on the left hand side so they aren't cut by the die when you run it through the Big Shot. I then just cut a section away at the front of the card to create the Baby carriage shape :o)

The handle for the carriage was created using the little Sizzlits die - Sweet Scribbles ..... and the papers are - yet again - the beautiful Springtime Vintage DSP - both from the Mini Catalogue. The cardstock is Baja Breeze.

Baby Carriage

This cute little Baby Carriage is yet another project from my Inspiration Table! Just shows how versatile that Scallop Circle Bigz Die from Stampin' Up! is - it can be used for so many different types of projects :o)

The Carriage is based on a tutorial from the Scor-pal web site. But I've changed a few things to give it a 'neater' finish :o) The Scallop Circle has just been cut in half and used to make the hood on the carriage.

I've decorated it with the Tiny Tags stamp set, flowers from the Boho Blossom punch and some of our Basic Pearls.

Hopeful Thoughts - Gift Bag

This is another project I originally created for my Inspiration Table at Amanda's training. I absolutely love this bag and it was the inspiration for my project class this month which I will show you soon :o)

I have used the Hopeful Thoughts stamp set to decorate the handle and the butterflies. I coloured the image with the Stampin' Markers.

The beautiful rosette was created by cutting 2 Scallop Circles and scoring each of them in between all the scallops. You then just need to cut along one of the score lines into the centre and then concertina fold the scallops all the way round. The 2 halves are then joined together. Simple ..... :o)

More Scallop Circle Die Projects!

This sweet little basket is made using 2 Scallop Circles joined together at the sides with a little sticky strip. The Embosslit die 'Scalloped Heart of Hearts' was used to decorate the front and I have used Stampin' Up's gorgeous Flower Brads to hold the handle in place. The handle is cardstock, covered with the lovely Rose Red Seam Binding ribbon :o)

What could be simpler? A Scallop Circle, embossed with the beautiful Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder - a couple of Jumbo Brads and a little Seam Binding Ribbon - all used to create a wrap for a couple of bars of choccie ....... yum :o)

Aren't these cute? Each one is a Scallop Circle folded to create little favours ..... these holding delicious mini easter eggs :o)

All these projects use the wonderful new Springtime Vintage Designer Series Papers (£8.75).

Bag-a-lopes - With Scallop Circle Die

These cute little gift bags are called Bag-a-lopes because each is created using one of Stampin' Up's gorgeous Vanilla envelopes (page 87 £5.75 for 40).

I have used the Scallop Circle die (again!) to create the tops for them. Each is embossed with one of the Embossing Folders now available in the Mini Catalogue :o) I also heat embossed them with Clear Embossing powder to give the effect of leather - this isn't clear in the pics - but it does look great :o)

Embossed Frame

At my Stampin' Up! parties this month, I have been demonstrating how to create an embossed frame using the new Embossing folders from the Mini Catalogue.

The following cards all use the Vintage Wallpaper folder ... which is my current favourite :o) All the designs are clean and simple and really quick to do. The first two use the beautiful Wedding Wheels single stamp (£6.95) - also from the Mini Catalogue and the Tiny Tags set from the main catalogue, together with its matching Jewellery Tag Punch.

The final card uses one of the stamps from the Hostess Level 1 set, Punch Potpourri. The sentiment is from the Hostess Level 2 set from the Mini Catalogue, Something To Celebrate :o)

Patchwork - Scallop Circle

Box Lid :

I created this box to be a focal point on my Inspiration Table :o) It's big! The height is 20cm and the base is 14.5cm square.

The patchwork was made up of 1 1/4" squares and glued to a 5" square of Whisper White cardstock. This was then centred over the Scallop Circle Die and cut in the Big Shot. I used 4 of them for the sides and 1 of the 'waste' frames for the lid :o)

The Designer Series Paper used is Springtime Vintage - from the new Mini Catalogue. I created the Flowers using the Fun Flowers Die - creased them and split the paper layers before daubing the edges with Platinum Shimmer Paint.

The ruffled ribbon is the new Seam Binding in Baja Breeze - this was just pleated randomly onto sticky strip. I also threaded a small piece of this ribbon through the button - yet another product from our new Mini Catalogue :o)

Scallop Circle Die - Small Gift Bag

Another of my projects from my Inspiration station at Amanda's training day :o)

This cute gift bag was made using 2 Scallop Circle die cuts. I cut these from Confetti White cardstock and covered the outside with some of the beautiful Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper.

The flower was made using the Fun Flowers Die. It's been spritzed with White Frost Shimmer paint mixed with Rubbing Alcohol so it's all sparkly :o) Hidden inside is one of the lovely new Big Springtime Vintage Designer Buttons, threaded through with Seam Binding ribbon.

The Butterfly is from the Beautiful Butterflies Die cut in Cardstock Vellum and coloured on the reverse with the Stampin' Markers. I have added Dazzling Diamond glitter all around the wings and Basic Pearls down through the body.

Scallop Circle Die - More Projects!

The following are a few more of the projects I showed on my Inspiration station at Amanda's training day this month. I focused on the Scallop Circle Die. This has proved to be such a versatile tool to use - it's amazing what you can do with this Die!

This is a little oval Easter basket made using one Scallop Circle. It's really easy to make .....

Make a pencil mark on the Scallop circle between 2 scallops – count 5 scallops along and mark again. Count 10 scallops and mark and count another 5 again and mark. Score down from one mark to the marked point directly opposite – do the same for the remaining marks. You will have scored a cross shape. Punch out a Wide Oval (2" x 1 3/8") and glue to the centre of the scallop circle. Ensure the narrower sides of the oval are placed in the smaller scored sections. Cut down the scored lines to the wide oval edge. Overlap and glue 2 scallops on the 5-scallop sections to the adjacent 10-scallop sections.

Isn't this little Bird's Nest sweet? I love it. Again it's made using just one Scallop Circle.

Punch out a 1 ¾” circle and glue to the middle of the large scallop circle. Cut between the scallops after every 5th scallop, down to the edge of the smaller circle. Work round the circle overlapping and gluing 1 scallop onto the next to form the nest shape.

If you add a handle to it, it makes another really cute Easter basket.

These umbrellas are really sweet too! Each has used 2 Scallop Circles - one in cardstock and the other in Designer Series Paper (DSP) - you just cut the scallops off the DSP one and position on top of the cardstock one.

Score straight down between every 4th scallop – the last sections made will only contain 3 scallops. Score straight down the middle of the 3 scallops. The 2 halves of these smaller sections are glued together so they don’t show on the right side – this forms the umbrella shape.

Scallop Circle Die - Easter Projects

These are a couple more of the projects I displayed on my inspiration station at Amanda Fowler's last quarterly training day :o)

The sides of the box were created by cutting 4 Scallop Circles. I scored down 6 scallops on each side and 9 scallops across the bottom of each piece. The base was formed with a piece of cardstock 8.5cm x 8.5cm. It's then just a question of sticking each piece to the base and then sticking the sides to each other :o)

Whenever I cut a Scallop Circle from cardstock I always use a 12cm x 12cm piece. I have marked points on my Die so I know where to lay this down so that the Circle is cut dead centre in the cardstock. This enables me to use the 'waste' piece on other projects.

This card is created with a 26cm x 13cm Base card. The Rose Red layer is 12.5cm x 12.5cm and has been stamped with the Sanded background stamp. The Baja Breeze frame is the 'waste' from another project and measures 12cm x 12cm.

Both projects use the sweet A Good Egg stamp set - page 20 114974 £22.95

Easter Treat Holder - A Good Egg

These are the Easter Treat Holders I made for my inspiration table last Saturday. I also made lots of them for swaps :o)

They are so simple to make. I've used the Scallop Circle Bigz Die for the holder and decorated using A Good Egg stamp set. The holder itself has been stamped with the Sanded background stamp.

Instructions :

Cut a Scallop Circle using the die.
Score down the middle 2 scallops.
Score across the top and bottom 6 scallops.
Crease all the score lines with a bone folder.
The larger sections will form the front and back. The 2-scallop strip forms the base and the little sides of the holder.
Fold all the sections so they stand up.

Push the little 'corner' sections to the inside and glue in place behind the little side sections.

I found this idea on Linda Willman's blog - Stamper's Pad. She has 3 scallops for the bottom section which was a little wide for what I wanted, so I adjusted it as above :o)

Strength & Hope - C.A.S.E

This truly scrumptious card is based on one created by the amazingly talented Sandi MacIver. When I saw Sandi's I just had to CASE it :o) I changed a couple of things, but basically It's pretty much a direct copy :o)

The card uses the Love Letter DSP and the wonderful Strength & Hope stamp set - together with the Fun Flowers Die and the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. The sentiment is from the Curly Cute stamp set and Crumb Cake Seam Binding adds the final touch ...... Altogether .... Simply Gorgeous!

A Good Egg

I haven't been updating my blog lately, but have been working hard! The lovely Amanda Fowler had her quarterly training day yesterday and I attended with two of my wonderful downline.

I was asked to create an inspiration table and do demonstrations focusing on a product from the new Mini Catalogue. So ..... I have been concetrating on this for the past few weeks :o) I will start posting these projects shortly so you can see all what I made and I will post links or instructions for them whenever possible.

A sweet and very quick card today using the lovely 'A Good Egg' stamp set.

The egg on the chick's bottom has been stamped separately and cut out, then embossed using the Square Lattice embossing folder. I also used this folder on the larger eggs. I love that we can now add this beautiful texture onto our projects with the fabulous Big Shot machine :o)

The banner was created just by using one 'prong' from the Extra-Large Star punch.

The colour palette is Rose Red, Pear Pizazz, Baja Breeze and Basic Black. I have been using this palette so much lately due to the fact that it goes so well with the beautiful Springtime Vintage Product Suite from the new Mini Catalogue.

March - Techniques Class

I held my first Technique's Class last night. My lovely ladies made three 6" x 6" Technique Method cards together with 3 greeting cards each using one of the different techniques they had practised.

Beautiful Bliss .........

Artistic Etchings - January Class

My classes this month used the wonderful Artistic Etchings (page 64) and Notably Ornate (page 65) stamp sets. These are both beautiful Vintage sets, but lend themselves to comtemporary designs too - as you can see by the left hand card :)

Beautiful Medallion .....

I've had another go at 'Vintage' today :o) I love how the background has come out on this card. The technique is 'Faux Linen' which I've used before, but this time I did a little more sanding.

The main colours used are Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke and Elegant Eggplant. I've also used a little So Saffron, More Mustard and Soft Suede inks for the colouring.

The ribbon is Very Vanilla Satin and I have coloured this with my ink pads this time :o)

The little bird is from the Notably Ornate stamp set (page 65), the sentiment is from Artistic Etchings set (page 64). You can find the beautiful Medallion stamp on page 61. I have also used En Francais which is on the same page - both of these large background stamps are £16.95 each. Underneath the sentiment I used the lovely Decor standard wheel (page 70).

Vintage Bliss

I have used Sahara Sand and Not Quite Navy as my colour scheme for this card. The gorgeous DSP Blueberry Crisp provides the background paper.

The background is again sponged with the inks using daubers. The colours this time are Sahara Sand, River Rock and Not Quite Navy.

The Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon has also been coloured with Sahara Sand and River Rock Stampin' Markers.

More Bliss

The cardstock used on this one is Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black and Very Vanilla.
The inks used are Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, So Saffron and More Mustard.

I sponged the background onto the Very Vanilla cardstock using the inks listed and sponge daubers.

The little flower used on the background was stamped 'off' three times before using to give a faded look.

I used Daffodil Delight Satin ribbon, but firstly coloured it using So Saffron, More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Markers.

Bliss

Out of the 4 Sale-a-bration stamp sets available this year, I think Bliss is my favourite :o) It's a beautiful set and although the designs are in a Vintage style, they can be used to produce some lovely contemporary projects. Over the next few days I'll show you a few cards I have made with a Vintage feel to them :o)

The cardstock used on this one is Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black and Very Vanilla.
I used Early Espresso, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron and More Mustard inks.

I sponged the background on to the Very Vanilla cardstock using the above inks and sponge daubers.

Sweet Summer

Sweet Summer is one of the Limited Edition stamp sets Stampin' Up! is giving away free with orders of £45 during their Sale-a-bration promotion. It's a lovely set to use and has the sweetest bird, bee and butterfly in it.

The colour combination for the above card is Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and Perfect Plum - another suggestion from the invaluable Color Coach (page 81). The images have been coloured with Stampin' Write Markers and the middle flower is highlighted with our fabby Basic Pearls (page 99).I have used the crayon resist technique to create the background. The punches used are the Curly Label and the Extra Large Oval. The sentiment comes from the Level 1 Hostess set - Afterthoughts (page 11).

Just Believe - Colour Wash

Just Believe is one of the new additions to Stampin's Up!s latest Idea Book & Catalogue. It's a fabulous set. You can find it on page 57 and is priced at £32.95 for wood mount or £25.95 for clear mount.

This card also uses the new Watercolour Paper (page 87 £5.95). The image has been stamped in Versamark and embossed with Clear Powder. The colours are then painted over the image using the Aqua Painter brush (page 102). If you squeeze the lid of a Classic Ink Pad it will transfer some of the ink to the lid so you can use it like a palette and easily pick up the colour using your Aqua Painter. A really simple technique to try :o)

The colours used are Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait and Marina Mist.

Vintage Vogue

I have loved the Vintage Vogue stamp set ever since it came out. I'm so pleased that Stampin' Up! carried it forward into the main catalogue (page 62). It is now available in both wood mount (£22.95) and clear mount (17.95).

The colours on the above card are Soft Suede, River Rock and Rich Razzleberry together with a little Very Vanilla.

I stamped the background onto our new glossy cardstock using the large En Francais stamp (Page 61 £16.95). I then tried a new technique - Faux Linen. Sand the cardstock vertically and horizontally until all the gloss is removed. Lightly sponge ink (River Rock) all over the cardstock and then sand over the surface again. I used the Sanding Block from the Distressing Essentials kit (page 103 £14.95) to do the sanding and it worked a treat :o) I love the finish it's given me - although hard to see in the photo. It gives a beautiful vintage look to the background.

The flower centre is made up of Very Vanilla 3/8" Taffeta ribbon which I dyed with my River Rock Marker pen. I twisted it into a coil and added one of the Basic Pearls (page 99 £4.50) to finish off.

I used Rich Razzleberry 5/8" Satin ribbon for the ruffles. These were so easy to create and I love the look of them - much easier to produce than the pleating I did on my previous class! I think I'll be giving this to my ladies to try soon :o)

Dasher - With Brayer

I spotted a beautiful card over on SCS today and had to have a go at creating it myself! The original (created by Kari Metzger) was created using sponging, but as I'm practising my brayering this month I decided to change the technique :o)

I love how the above card came out. The white ring around the moon really makes it stand out. I used Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Pacific Point and a little Night of Navy to brayer the sky. For the moon itself, I used So Saffron and just a touch of Cajun Craze - and I sponged this on.

I changed the colour scheme for my second attempt. This time the entire card is brayered and I used So Saffron, More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler. I added the moon mask after I had brayered the More Mustard. This time there is no ring around the moon BUT I've managed to get a fuzzy edge to it, which I quite like. It makes it look like there is a bit of a haze around :o)

Both cards are really simple to create. I'm by no means a brayer expert! But with just a little practice you can get a great look with limited skills :o)

Beware Pirates - New Technique

More Beware Pirates! I can't seem to ignore this stamp set for very long :o)

The design is very simple and similar to one I have used before. The colour scheme is Sahara Sand and Basic Black. I have embossed the sentiment with Black embossing powder. The edges of the image have been distressed using the Cutter Kit and the corners curled over with my tweezers.

The new technique I have used is STAMPING IN SOOT. I have used some of SU's Glossy White cardstock (page 87). This is not a technique for children to use - because you hold the cardstock glossy side down over a lighted candle. The cardstock must just touch the flame. You slowly keep the cardstock moving across flame so the understide becomes covered with soot - make sure you are holding the card with tweezers!

Stop when you are happy with the coverage - you don't want this to be even, it looks much better when the soot is patchy when used with this stamp set.

Place the cardstock on your table - soot side up and press your chosen stamp into it. You don't need any ink - the stamp with lift off the soot and leave it's image. Be careful not to touch the soot with your fingers as this will also lift off or smudge the soot.

When you have finished stamping, you will need to FIX the image. I used an Artist's Fixative for Pastel, Charcoal and Pencil. Just a quick spray, then leave to dry and your image is ready to place on your project :o)

Season Of Joy Class

More Swaps - Convention 2010

I joined 3 of the organised swaps during Convention. These usually run in groups of 10. Everyone makes 10 of the same item and we exchange them, so everyone comes away with 10 different items.

This is what I made for the Card Candy swap. I loved making these using the Level 1 Silhouette Sentiments stamp set. I love this set :o)

My item for the 3D swap. This was made using the Fancy Flower punch and contains a mini nail care kit.

The Business Tools Swap. These took ages to make, but I loved doing them. The little charms are made using Shrink Plastic. The box contains a punch guide which is a template for all the current Stampin' Up! punches. I used the Artistic Etchings stamp set and the Newsprint Designer Series Paper.

Finally ..... I also took a little gift along for a very special lady .... Eileen. Eileen is one of two wonderful people who look after the UK demos in Demo Support. She is based in Germany and we hadn't met before. It was so good to finally meet her :o)

Convention 2010

I was so glad to be able to go to the Stampin' Up! convention this year! The event was attended by 300 demos from all over the UK, France and Germany .... and just a few from the USA :o)

As with all of Stampin' Up! events, there was loads of swapping. I took several different ones with me. It's not in me to make too many of the same one. These are all the general swaps that I took .....

Inchy Boxes - These were made using the new Petal Card punch and contained a yummy chocolate. I used the Level 2 hostess set Cute By The Inch to decorate them.

Fast & Fabulous cards - made using the Level 2 Hostess set .....

These were my favourite little cards - created with the beautiful Every Moment stamp set .....

Of course I had to make some using Beware Pirates .... and also the gorgeous Level 1 Hostess set Punch Potpourri ....

And the final cards ..... a few using Dasher and the Medallion stamps .....

I took some more 3D items along too. My beautiful sister Faith helped me make these. Each contains a Drinking Chocolate sachet .....
